polypropylene vs wool & silk rugs

Wool area rugs are beautiful. There is nothing that feels like one under foot. They can be one-of-a-kind works of art. But I prefer something that I don't have to worry about so much. I grew up in a home with antique wool area rugs covering almost all of the floor space in every room. I think the new rugs have more ability to stand up to pets, babies, children, teenagers, parties, crafting oops, and moths, etc. but the ones I grew up with did not.

I like being able to have a nice covering over the wood floors in winter and then being able to move it out to the patio in the spring and summer.

I suppose that if I had a larger budget to work from, I would have both but I don't think so. I like the lower price and practical aspects of polypropylene more than having a rug made of wool and silk. Now that I think about it...I'm allergic to wool so maybe it's a childhood memory thing!

Anyone else have any opinions they'd like to share??
