paint color question

When they built our house I had the entire place painted Killian beige with all the trim and the ceilings painted white. The color is a nice soft taupe color that goes very well with my carpet - both are a cool taupe color - leans more toward gray than brown. Anyway, I think if I were going to paint I would simply paint the same easy neutral color that matches my rugs all through the house but would just make it a semi gloss paint so it could be washed. My DH thinks we need to paint all different colors. OPINIONS? Please.
