@silver Goldie    Yes!  Some great childhood memories.  We hated stringing the tinsel.  My mother wanted ONE strand on the tree at a time!  We didn't get tons of gifts like kids today, but we always got our most wanted toy.  I LOVED my childhood Christmas Eve's.  It was a special time in the late 60's.  Today, our family has cut way back on gifts, and it's great now also.  We really enjoy the holiday, a meal and a day together.

HA HA @lynnie61

I'm with you on that tinsel!  What was even worse was that Mom made us pull each strand off when taking the tree down and lay it flat to use next year!!

What was tinsel back then?  19c a package?  But she was frugal!

@RespectLife    Yes, and my mom didn't do the tinsel, she had us do it!  Yep, then save it for the next year.  I have never used tinsel in my adult life because of it!  🤨🤣🤨🤣

We didn't have so many unwrapped gifts.  Somebody in that family is lazy.

It was dad's  job to meticulously apply the tinsel, one strand at a time, and to take charge of torn wrapping paper and bows with a huge lawn and leaf bag.

Oh - wow!  It certainly does!  It takes me right back again.  Such wonderful, happy memories!  I wanted to climb right in that picture!

I love the look of that Christmas tree compared to trees today.  Reminds me of the white pines my Dad would cut from Grandpa's farm every year.

oh yes the 60s. The tinsel. I remember running out to the corner store in the evening , in the snow because we needed more tinsel. Memories.

Re: does this bring back memories?

One of my children wanted to replicate the picture of my childhood tree, similar to this.  We did.  It was so time-consuming to put each icicle on piece by piece.  I think before it was over, I just wanted a couple glasses of wine and throw the whole box on top of the tree, but it turned out beautifully.  I am so glad I did that because he is no longer with us. Christmas was always his favorite time.

Re: does this bring back memories?

We had that tinsel on our trees growing up.

We had those big bulbs on the strands of lights, they were hot if you touched them!

We didn't do the tinsel one strand at a time,that's for sure!

@Kachina624

We never wrapped Santa Claus.  Other gifts were wrapped but never Santa Claus.  It was too exciting for the kids to just see it on full display.  I like wrapped presents from me to you and you to me kind of thing but Santa doesn't wrap gifts.
