We are considering replacing our kitchen counters with corian. We don't want the expense of , nor the upkeep of granite. We felt corian was a good compromise.Anyone have corian? Do you like it? We still have not even looked into what is available as far as color or patterns.

Really no upkeep to granite, just about once in 10 years you apply a coat of a sealant to it yourself. I prefer granite in the kitchen over Corian. I do know someone who has had Corian for 20 years and likes it. Corian does not hold up well when exposed to high heat.

I had corian countertops installed in my previus kitchen. Loved it - easy to maintain. I had a 12' island with a sink and it was fabulous.

I then redid my bathroom and had the shower done in corian as well.

I would highly recommend it.

I was just looking at the dupont corian site - some of them look exactly like marble. That is a look I'd love.

Corian is not quartz

I had Corian countertops and  a fabulous Corian double sink for more than 20 years and wish I had them  now in my new home.

Wouldn't want granite at all--never ever.  Granite  requires periodic special treatment and chips, especially around the edges of the sink, due to being hit with flatware, dishes, pots and pans.

The  solid-color taupe Corian I once  had is no longer available, and the newer Corian colors/patterns don't look that good to me.  We have those  in our bathrooms now.

Now, my kitchen has quartz  counters and an annoying, hard-to-clean stainless steel sink--had no choice in the matter.

Quartz is an OK counter surface and can mimic the look of marble.  It's probably  as good as Corian as far as I'm concerned, and from my experience with both types, is just as easy to clean and maintain.

We chose Corian when we had our home built in 2003.  Love it!  Easy care, still looks great.  When it first came out decades ago, there was a limited selection of colors and patterns.  Now there are many.  IMO a better choice than granite although personally I would check out quartz which seems to be very popular now.

I would say today most people are using either granite or quartz, Corian was popular years ago when just about the only other alternative was laminate like Formica.

I have had Corian countertops and a double sink in my home for 30 years. I love it! Beats anything else we've ever had . . . and I've had marble, which wasn't as great as everyone says. When my son and DIL purchased their latest home, they also put Corian in. He had grown up (since age 15) with it and had not been thrilled with anything in the homes he had purchased in the meantime. My DIL loves it. We both have a plain ivory countertop and matching sink (no seams at all). It's easy care and gorgeous all of the time. You would love it.

I do use a bread board for hot dishes from the oven to protect the countertops . . . but I've always done that!

Corian is also in all bathrooms. I love the clean, simple lines. It's durable and easy to maintain. Not a fan of all the designs/patterns in counters today.

Money screams; wealth whispers.

For me there is nothing richer looking than Granite ... I don’t understand the misconception that Granite needs so much upkeep..... as long as it’s sealed before installation it remains maintenance free for many years... I love the rich look of Granite 😍

JMO...I'd at least check out the quartz before going with Corian...especially if you plan to sell in the next few years.

Also JUST MY OPINION...I absolutely love my granite and would do it again in a heartbeat! We've had it for 5 years, and it hasn't needed resealing (though it was recommended every 3 years), nor has it chipped. And believe me, we don't baby it. There are different levels of granite, just like with most things. We went with a medium priced one and have been extremely happy with it.
