I know a lot of folks do not like ceiling fans, but in the south when it is 95 to 105 degrees and 100% humidity, it certainly helps, especially if you have personal summers or heart/breathing problems.

Does anyone have a ceiling fan they really really like? could you include brand name and style ? I am looking to replace one , and have looked at kichler, quorum, casablanca. I have a hunter in my bedroom., but it is very basic. I also found gulf coast online  sold by dans fan city out of florida.  I know home depot and lowes has fans but i am looking for one that is a little more stylish and has greater cfms than what they generally carry there.  I also have low ceilings. Thanks. Have a good day everyone.

@webbgarner1.  Surely you have air conditioning where you live?  I use an evaporative cooler for A.C..  They work where the humidity is very low, here typically 6-7% afternoons this time of year.  The cooler is on the roof so I have someone come out and start it up every spring.  We have an unexpected early hot spell and the earliest they could send someone was Thursday afternoon.  So I'm sitting here with 92° and my ceiling fan whirling away.  You wouldn't like it; it has a Southwestern vibe.

@Kachina624   sure, we have ac., could not imagine our summers without it . Looking for that something to help move the air and provide extra comfort when needed. It certainly does seem in our area of the country anyway, that our summers are getting more brutal. I bet your southwestern style fan is pretty., although it would not fit in with my living room.

I have heard of something called a swamp cooler which I think may be what you have. Have never lived in an area where they are used.

I am sure you appreciated having that fan on those hot days.

Good chatting with you Kachina.

@webbgarner1. Thank you re dog.  I've had a series of beautiful Collies but I can no longer lift and groom them so I'm into smaller dogs.

We have one in the dining/cooking area and one in the bedroom.  I like cooler when I sleep. I'll get back to you on brand if I can find one.

Re: ceiling fans

We have six ceiling-hugger fans because of low ceilings and they came from Home Depot. Two of them are Hunter.

I didn't know a lot of people don't like ceiling fans!  Why not??  I live on Long Island and many people I know have them. They are perfect for that "in-between" weather when it's not exactly hot enough for the AC.

Anyway - I moved into my house almost 2 years ago and it had no ceiling fans at all.  We installed 8 Hunter ceiling fans throughout the house (some rooms are long and have 2 fans).  They are beautiful, work well, and keep the house really cool.  Highly recommend!

@webbgarner1 - Casablanca or Hunter. As the kitchen ceiling in my other house was 13', there was no way I could switch the direction of the blades for winter/summer. I found a Casablanca that had a control panel that was mounted on the wall like a light switch.

I have fans in every room and they are used all year. Since all of the ceilings in this house are so high, I will buy the fans with remotes.

Oh we are definitely fan people! Have them in every room. And we run them summer and winter. We have Hunter fans throughout but my favorite two are Fanimation fans Awesome.
