I'm not asking for a legal opinion here, but has anyone had any experience with cancelling a window replacement contract? We put 50% down on the whole house full of replacement windows with the assurance they could get done by Oct 15 before a large family reunion. This was in July.

When I don't hear anything (after the check clears for several thousand of course) I call to find out what's going on and hear they were 'impacted by the hurricane' and everything got pushed back. After another wait with no word on where I"m at in the wait list, I call again today and the person on the phone says another six weeks. We've timed out painters, have moved heavy furniture, waited on carpet replacement etc and frankly I don't trust them to even tell me if our custom windows have been 'started' or not. If they are already 'made to order' I guess we're stuck, but if not?

The contract came with the usual cancellation window of three days, but I'm just really frustrated in their communications and would like to cancel the whole thing out, even it means just waiting around for another company next spring. This is a national group. I know a hurricane is not a planned event, but they can't use other plants or get things going double shifts to move things along.

Sorry...just needed to vent and wondered if anyone had tried to just cancel out of something like this.
