I think it depends on the style of the house.. either way I don't like anything elaborate like example #1or #7.

I like the last picture which I think is wood.  I do not care for the iron contemporary ones.  I like to stick with a traditional look and bring in the furniture you like to compliment it.

I like both. Generally, though, I prefer wood inside a home. 

 

Of the ones posted I dislike the first wooden one - looks too "churchy". I also dislike the metal one with circles in the design, and the metal one that looks like vines.

For the most part, I prefer wood, however depending on the style of the home, Iron sometimes looks better.....

I like both and I like a mix. It all depends on the specific design of the stairwell.
