Wood Floor Question

We're thinking about replacing the carpeting in part of our house with wood flooring. I know there's various prices,etc. that go into making up the cost; but can anyone out there give me an approximate price per square foot that is reasonable for wood flooring. We're looking at something like a cherry, not laminate.
