Because of abnormally high temps I started quilting much later this winter than usual.  This is a beach theme.  I just finished the quilting today.  Next comes the borders.

I had a spool of quilting thread that I was at war with the whole time I used it on this quilt. I thought it was too thick, much thicker than normal.  It made burying the knots a tug of war!  The price of quilting thread has gone through the roof like everything else.  $7.50 for one spool.

I need to do some minor adjustments before borders but here is a look at the rough finish.  Pinch out for details.   LM

Re: Winter quilting…

[ Edited ]

That is just so lovely, @Lilysmom1. I like it very much...just beautiful! Thank you for sharing the pics with us.

My aunt quilted into her 90's. It brought her joy and kept her going. And get this, she didn't need reading glasses until she was in her 80's. 😲 She died just a few short months from 100. She loved quilting and gave away soooooo many quilts to friends and family. She was quite poor and didn't have the best materials to work with, but she was creative and she surely loved color and pattern! I have a couple of her quilts, and although they're not quite my style, their happy and cheerful colors are so inline with her personality and spirit...and I love them! She was so pleasant to be around...always a twinkle in her eyes and a smile on her face.

I so admire the talent you have. Honestly, I struggle to even sew on a button! Thank you again for sharing your beautiful handy work here with us.

@Lilysmom1 :  Your quilt is lovely. I can't imagine the blood, sweat and tears that go into handicraft of this type even though I was raised under a quilters' frame at the feet of my momma, my grandmothers, aunties and friends. I didn't understand their labors at the time but I am so glad they did. They are all gone now but their work remains and I treasure every single stitch and moment in time that went into them.
