Which Comes First?

I want to redo my bedroom with new carpet and paint, and a few furniture pieces. Should I select the paint color first, and then get the carpet color, or the other way around?? I think it will be harder to select the paint than the carpet, but if you all could chime in with your suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks.
