@pattypeep, your family & friends who have been to your house know that you are clean, be honest say busy with the rental & didn't have time with the house, it's you that is upset don't think company would care. I am like you and get upset if things are not right especially when company comes. My company are from out of state & stay with us, I clean everything a month ahead, Husband says why are you killing yourself, their houses are dirty they don't care. It's just the way I am.

I wipe down the bathroom with a Lysol wipe, clean the toilet and the mirror. I clean all the glass in the entry (dog drool or "art") and run the dry mop over the kitchen floor. I have a semi open floor plan so you can see quite a few rooms from the entry. That's my one hour countdown.

@sissel  My husband says pretty much what yours does. LOL He also says no one ever died from dirt. My answer to him is always "when someone comes to a dirty house, they don't say "wow, what a messy housekeeper Mr. so and so is". They would probably say SHE's a bad housekeeper. My friends do understand and know what's going on, but still..........I like clean. Thank you for your response. Heart

I agree 100%, a dirty mirror in a bathroom kind of makes the whole room look messy, so I would clean that first......Then quickly swifter the floor, and clean the toilet, wipe out sink and fixtures and voila!!!!

Re: What Would You Do ?

[ Edited ]

My house is a small condo and is usually picked up, dishes are always put away and stove top and kitchen counters clean so I concentrate on what's left:

I grab my big vacuum ---vacuuming makes it look nice. Then I grab the hand vac and give the furniture a once over to get rid of cat hair. Dust my coffee table-ignore the rest. Light some real candles so my home smells nice.

Sweep the kitchen floor--especially the floor area where my cats eat---my cats are messy eaters Cat LOL

I give the bathroom a quick go over--clean mirrors and

toilet.

Clean the litter box...............

I make sure my bedroom door is closed because I started purging my closets and have some boxes and things stacked up to donate......

A clean kitchen and bathroom are a must.  If you don't have time for the bedrooms, close the doors.  Make sure the living room is tidy and vacuum briefly where it counts.  Good luck.
