Re: What Does Your Housekeeper Do?

I am the Housekeeper! 🤪 I've had this position for 49 and a half years. First job I've ever had where you tell the administration that you quit and it falls on deaf ears!!!🦻😅🤣😂

After my mom passed away years ago I had a deep cleaning done. They literally cleaned my house from top to bottom. All the walls and everything in site, even little stuff.

I wish I could afford a cleaning person but that will never happen. I hate cleaning esp vacuuming because it kills my back.

I did worry the whole time this crew came in because of the pets and them going in and out the door. That bugged me and I don't want that worry.

Here, a cleaning company will come in once a month if that's your choice.

They come in with everything...no wasted time going to the vehicle.

If you hurt your back with the vacuum, doesn't changing sheets give you a fit?

Could you put the pets in an unused bedroom while the cleaners clean?  Then rotate pets to Br.3 the next time so 1 and 2 can be cleaned.

My cleaners clean the unused brs every OTHER visit.

Re: What Does Your Housekeeper Do?

Wish I had one sometimes, especially in low areas. But I'm trying certain tools to see what works.  Use to do so much on my knees.  No more.

Re: What Does Your Housekeeper Do?

I still do the cleaning with some help from DH. I space things out as I can't do it in one or two days anymore. I have been thinking about hiring someone to do a thorough cleaning each season.

Re: What Does Your Housekeeper Do?

My IMAGINARY housekeeper would scoop the three cat boxes every day, and also pay a lot of attention to floors and bathrooms, which are my weak spots.

My IMAGINARY butler and house manager would keep things running by making sure the house is running well.  They would deal with any problems and the people who need to come out and fix them.  Also, would be nice to have someone to chauffer me around.

In my real life, I follow a version of FlyLady, breaking my house into eight zones.  But I am always woefully behind.

I'd love to have a trusted person who would come in and help out sometimes.  Those of you who have found that are very lucky!

The truth is I hate to have people in the house that I really do not know very well.

@Group 5 minus 1  I used to feel the same way until we hired a couple to come and clean once a month. One hour and forty five minutes after they arrive the house smells so fresh and sparkles top to bottom. It's just the 2 of us so we keep the house picked up and do cursory cleanings inbetween.

@mrshckynut   I chuckled when I read this. My husband likes to vacuum too and doesn't dust. The only thing I can figure is it has something to do with a machine....like snow blowing or something!

If I ask, he will help.  I keep trying to do some things on my own. For heavy laundry, he's a life saver.
