@ScenicMaine I think what you're seeing as a coffee table is actually a 'center hall' table, often used in larger foyers and entry halls. They're taller than the average coffee table and typically exist, as is the case here, primarily for decorative purposes... a place to set a vase, flowers, books or occasionally to set down mail or keys... For me, this is a pretty table, but I more typically see round center hall tables, which seem to take up less visual space...
