It's a store, right?

It looks old to me and not that welcoming.

What a jumbled mess. This would be a NO thanks, can't even stop for a visit.

First reaction was, oh my gosh, meaning love it. This is just adorable it if was a little shop or tea room. I don't think I'd want so many prints to live with.

My first thought was, "YIKES!" Then, secondly: Without the open door, I can imagine the musty / dusty smell from so much stuff piled up, stacked up, layered and scattered.

The room has some lovely areas, ceiling, the dutch door, and the really gorgeous grandfather clock. I would need less clutter laying around and less wall displays.

I really don't think so. Looks like a boutique or some type of shopping venue to me.

Just a point of information, this is not, as some are surmising, a retail setting, It is indeed a home and while not a large home it is a roomy cottage. It was decorated by the now departed Mr. Charles Faudree, who carved out quite a niche for himself in the French Country 'genre'... His designs were lovely and highly sought after, though he did tend toward what some might call 'excess' and what others might call 'collected'... I always loved his work, though clearly I preferred some of his rooms to others. This picture is, in fact, the entrance to a cottage home... Personally, while I might remove a bit of what some term 'clutter' I do like the room... It had me at the Dutch door...

Oh, that is so interesting, @stevieb. I've also liked the work of Charles Faudree through the years. He's had a big following in the shelter mags., hasn't he, and I think there are several books devoted to his layered, traditional, 'French-accented' style....

@Oznell I'm also a fan of his work and he certainly was a presence in a number of the magazines over the years. There are indeed several books of his work, even one, I believe, done posthumously. I have three or four of them and hope to complete the collection at some point. His rooms are, as you say, 'layered', with much to look at. Best of all, he had his own style, his own favorite elements and color choices and his look didn't involve anything trendy...
