We ordered our half wall caps today....

I had written that we were going to look into getting scrap pieces and we were fortunately able to do that. Very pretty marble with grey veining. I went there hoping for marble with beige veining but could only find the grey. I am fine with that . One piece of scrap is large enough to make both half wall caps so we saved on that and in total the material was only $100.It will make a very nice finished look - especially in the LR. They had several pieces at the stone yard but the one that was large enough was also the prettiest. It is something that different pieces of the same thing (carrera marble) all look different when you put them next to each other.

The stoneyard where we were sent to look had a lot of the 1/4 "" thick that you would probably use for facing a fireplace. They had a lot less of the 1/2"" we needed. In the granite they only had 1/2 "" . I am just not a fan of granite anyway - I really wanted marble. Fortunately for us the piece we chose had previously been sealed to keep stains off it when the entire slab was purchased by whomever or we would have had to pay for that to be done.
