WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR HOME STYLED?

Friday night at our favorite neighborhood restaurant, we met a new couple. I learned that the woman owns a home decor store, also in the neighborhood. Now I have driven by her shop hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of times, but never visited. Sometimes I can be intimidated by these little boutique shops. They aren't neariy as autonomous as say a Home Goods.😄

I also learned she "styles" homes--not for staging purposes, but rather so you might see your belongings in a new way, be it a more workable floor plan, less clutter, to better showcase your prized belongings--well you get the idea.

Is this something you woud ever consider? Years ago a friend hired a stylist for her house and was thrilled with the results. Note, nothing new was purchased; the stylist worked only with her current belongings.

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR HOME STYLED?

@magicmoodz  All my siblings, children, adult nieces & nephews.  Only 2 lives in a house.  All the others live in huge loft apartments or condos.

At that time, those folks were called "interior decorators."

I have a friend who is now a retired interior decorator.  When I first got my former loft apartment, she gave me "free advice, suggestions & recommendations."

I threw 2 satisfied customers her way as a thank you.

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR HOME STYLED?

@magicmoodz ,  I think it's a great service for anyone who would like it.  Lots of people know what they like, but don't quite know how to make it work together in the most optimum way, and, as you say, keep clutter to a minimum, etc.

As for your question, I personally would not care to hire a stylist.  Mainly because I get such pleasure out of working it all out for myself.  It's not a chore, or something I can't make time for.  It's practically a hobby and a pleasurable preoccupation!  But can fully understand that others would be glad to utilize such services, for a variety of reasons.

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR HOME STYLED?

If I  needed it, I would hire someone.  I think I do a pretty good job with what I have.  I did use a person once to help me jump start my living/dining rooms.  She helped me with wall paper and a few swatches of fabric.  I ended up choosing what I wanted and  took over from there.

Sometimes you just need help getting started, which was my case.

Interior Designers do have access to things that the public cannot purchase, generally the price is high so I stick with what I can afford and my house reflects me and my husband.

No I wouldn't want one. I love my taste in items and I love styling my own home. To me it just wouldn't be the same letting someone else style my home if they are not living with me

No, I would not like it.  We "style" our own home!

No! I like my home the way "I" like it. That is what makes it feel like home to me.

Re: WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR HOME STYLED?

I am comfortable with my home 'style'.  Not many designers know how to do Soutwest decor/style.
