I thought it would be fun to contrast this extremely simple Swedish cottage, with the much more elaborate "airy beach house" post. You don't HAVE to choose, but I'd love to know, which would you ultimately enjoy living in more?
I like them both, but I lean more to the rustic cottage-- seems more my speed, ha. But minus the green checked couch. I'd have cozier furniture arrangements perhaps, but I do think I could live almost this simply, if I could have just a few of my "essential" sentimental accessories, candlesticks, and old glass pieces around.
Red stairway and Swedish ceramic wood stove-- love.
View of charming kitchen and dining area-- so cottagey!
Now, this heavenly, sunny, window-seated porch would sell me, even if nothing else did:
I'm so susceptible to cute studies-- wouldn't you constantly be distracted from your bill-paying by the view, though?
There's even an adorable sauna, overlooking the water. Always wanted a sauna:
OK, I'm smitten with this rather Spartan, but enchanting Swedish fairy tale! (Calling Max von Sydow). Do you have a preference between this, and the more elaborate coastal beach house in the other post?

The environment makes this house a jewel!

I would choose The Swedish Home as my vacation home and the Airy Beach House as my permanent residence.
The Beach House is perfection in every way IMO.
The Swedish Home is cute and cozy but LOOKS like a vacation home..it doesn't WOW me in any way.
I could leave it after a vacation and be fine with it. The Beach Home is something I would want to live in and wake up in ever day.

I'd take the Swedish house any day! So comfy and cozy - the perfect place to relax.
The other house, though in one of the nicest places in this world, imo, is just too sleek and racy for me, definitely not comforting - but, relative to the lifestyle there.

For a beach house, I like it. I had a summer home at a lake area and didn't have too much in it but just enough to make it welcoming. This cottage is full of light and the views spectacular! It would be a comfortable place to stay at for vacation or longer!!!

@eddyandme, that difference you described in the "moods" of both dwellings and the effect on the homeowner-- so well-expressed!
I do like both, for different reasons, clearly, but the modest, yet romantic little cottage-- that spells "home", comfort, and relaxing sanctuary to me too....

This is super cute and very practical...I like this one too, but I love the Beach House!

Like the beach house much better, but using so much white in both is a turn-off.
This house is cute but gives me a cold feeling, most likely the decor that needs more color other than red stairs. The bedroom with three beds is drab and uninviting. Don't like the style of the fireplaces. No railings around the open decks? Not a good idea. I can see a lot of things I would change to make this house cozy.
I would never live or vacation near a lake in the middle of woods. Can't think of a thing I'd enjoy doing there. Would like the wildlife though.

I prefer the beach house in the other thread.
