Re: Vacuumn Cleaner recommendation

I've had Dyson, Shark, and Oreck in the past (last 5 years) and I gave all away except the Dyson. It to me is FAR superior than the others.  I just recently upgraded to the Big Ball Cinetic and I am SO in love with it that I love to vacuum again. To see how much more comes up that from then other ones it's just amazing.

I love my DYSON animal.  It's my 2nd DYSON, first one is going strong well after 12 years but I wanted the animal version.  I also bought 2 as gifts.  They have wonderful customer service.

I also love Dyson.  They are the best in terms of products that will perform AND last, and the customer service they provide.

I used to buy cheapy vacuums, back when I was ignorant to the fact that I would end up spending way more having to keep buying new ones when the old ones die.

I've pretty much tried them all except for the Shark products.  I don't go in for that line because they are made by a company that makes products not to last.  I do understand that some prefer to pay less, rather than to pay for longevity, but have found that isn't for me.  I will prefer to pay for quality and outstanding customer service.

Panasonic makes one of the best, affordable uprighrts on the market.  Onboard tools and wand along with an easy switchout from upright to wand controls makes it truly versatile and easy to use and amazingly quiet for a cheaper vacuum.  It also has a HEPA filter.

That said, if you have the bucks to spend, nothing beats a Miele canister.  I have the top of the line model and use it primarily on the living floor of my house.  I use the Panasonic in my partly finished basement with wall to wall carpeting.

I would never buy a bagless vacuum of any kind.   Gross, dirty, and puts impurities back into the air while vacuuming.

@giddy up  I totally agree with you GIDDY about these bagless vacuums....even if you take them out to your garage and dump the dirt there...that dirt and grime still comes back at you and you breathe it in....and then there's the washing and/or replacing of the filters which is messy and/or expensive!!!  A bag is easy one and done at least with Oreck...

I loved my Oreck that I purchased long ago, (light weight and good suction) but the model I purchased had no tools on board for vacuuming furniture, drapes, or areas my cat's like to frequent and leave fur---they shed quite a bit...I tried a newer Oreck model but didn't like it as well....

I got an Eureka Pet Upright (since my best ever was a Eureka canister but I hated dragging the canister everywhere--difficult to manuveour around furniture )...The Eureka Pet is okay and has lot of tools to get the jobs I need done....but wish it had a bit more suction when you use the tools...and the filters are expensive and it takes 2 different kinds...I'm looking for a different vacuum---a friend has a Dyson and hates it.....and I've heard pros and cons about Shark....don't think I'd like the lift away model...

Animals are reliable, full of love, true in their affections, grateful. Difficult standards for people to live up to.”
