@Kachina624 wrote:@stevieb So give us an opinion; what do YOU think of it?
@Kachina624 I chose to feature the picture because I thought the overall table setting had appeal at some level. As @Oznell mentioned, I found the juxtaposition of the more elegant with the more basic elements kind of interesting. No, I'd not personally select these chargers, I don't like them that much, but neither wold I shy away from them for hygienic reasons. I somehow doubt pa went out into the back woods and chopped down a tree for ma to set the table...
As several noted, I'd have to assume these slabs of wood have been somehow treated. As far as it goes, I think chargers, any chargers, are pretty pointless, overall, though they can make for a pretty tablescape.

I would want it treated, as some have mentioned, mainly because of the strong smell new cut wood gives off. It's a nice smell ... just not w/ food.
@stevieb Thanks for sharing all your remarkable finds. It's been fun looking at everything all the different ideas.
@kate2357 I'm glad you've enjoyed some of the pictures posted!

I like the table decorated minus the tree chargers.

I think it is different and charming and as long as the wood has been treated, I think it provides a very different, yet unique look!

Don't care for the wood chargers. Raises the plates up as many others have stated. Didn't care for it when Katie Brown showed this exact same charger and Natural table runner way back in the 1990's on her show. The Natural runner could use a bit of color also. Berries or small flowers inserted would be nice.
