Re: Upscale Rustic Holiday Table Setting...

The setting they are shown in is perfect.  I can also see them on a Thanksgiving table with a rustic centerpiece.  I bought a couple at Pier1 (oh how I miss that store) to raise poinsettias to different heights.

Re: Upscale Rustic Holiday Table Setting...

I think it's charming and different. I've not seen cut slices of logs used as chargers before. In the right setting, I think it would work. I would want it treated, as some have mentioned, mainly because of the strong smell new cut wood gives off. It's a nice smell ... just not w/ food.

@stevieb  Thanks for sharing all your remarkable finds. It's been fun looking at everything all the different ideas.

I've often seen these tree trunk cross-sections used as chargers.  Not an original idea.  I don't care for it.  For one thing, it's unsanitary since they can't be washed.  How do you know a dog didn't lift his leg on the tree right before it was cut?

Urine is sterile. (Actually, that theory has been debunked. LOL)  Wouldn't bother me a bit.  I love this tablescape.

Unless the wood is refinished, I don't think it's attractive.  This "charger" lifts the plate and is a waste of natural resources because it can't be reused.

Chargers where there is no "wait staff" doesn't work unless your guests are getting up and down with each course served, which, in itself is a problem and confusion.

Re: Upscale Rustic Holiday Table Setting...

I like it but the chargers are way to thick for my taste--nee to be much thinner---think it would be awkward eating --would feel like I had to raise my shoulders up to cut anything----
