All of the rooms have a color harmony from the color wheel, the tint and shade of each color just isn't appealing when put together.

Life and homes don't have to mesh via a color wheel or some textbook chart. Again, another reason to do things myself. We all are our own best judge of what WE think flows together-not a piece of paper or diagram.

The word dissonance does come to mind. However, I love the sofa in photo #1, the art hanging above the console table in photo #2, and the draperies (ooh, and windows) in photo #3. Also in #3, the cane chairs. I believe I could assemble a decent room out of some of their parts. The blue/white rugs in #'s 2 & 3 tho a lovely color are too busy to go with anything in the rooms, and that brown dappled carpet in #1 would only look good on a deer.

 This was fun. Makes me better appreciate my own un-designer living and dining area, a "dated" and leaning toward mid-century conglomeration.
