That is not a bad idea if you have the room for the extra furniture.   As far as the jewelry, never happen!!  I've been broken into once and thankfully I do not display my stuff or it would have been forever gone!!  And it is worth way more than my shoes!!

If you have a room that is large enough to handle another piece of furniture then go for it! I would think shoes from Christian Leboutin (sp?) would be showcase worthy as they seem to be works of art.

What a great place to display sweaters and knits! The textures and colors would be an artwork in itself framed by those cases. Big statement in a large bedroom.

I think shoes should be stored out of sight. They are shoes, not decor.

There are so many closet storage items available, or professional built ins if that is an option money wise.

Cubbie holes, shelves, racks, bins, baskets, trunks, hangers of all types of items. 

Looking across the room right now, can not imagine a cabinet full of shoes...  👡👠👢.

This is a great idea for storing earrings.  (Ice cube trays are not just for ice anymore.)  I have two in one of my bureau drawers and store up to 3 or 4 earrings in each cube.  I also have pieces of fine jewelry stored in boxes in that same drawer and still have extra space.  I have a free standing jewelry armoire that I use for bracelets, necklaces, pins, etc.
