Re: Tried and True way to remove fish odor from house???

Febreeze Fabric on your curtains and fabrics willhelp tremendously. I do this after cooking strong foods and my daughter told me about it and it works great. Also candles and windows open should definitely help, I also have a tart burner and I usually put a fresh strong new tart in it as well and that helps a lot!!!!!!!

Candles are my go to for that type of smell.

JMFinley-I am going to go Febreze my couch and maybe my carpet, just in case. Odors like these sometimes stay in fabrics--of course the couch is no where near the kitchen. But I'm just covering my bases.

I have sliced lemons and put them in a pot of water and bring them to a boil and let them simmer for a good while. It gives my home a nice scent.

I like that idea but then I love the smell of fresh lemons.

I rarely cook fish because of the smell, the boiling lemons sounds like a great idea. I light a fragrant Yankee candle.

It really works, and in my kitchen I have 3 big windows with curtains and valances, and once I sprayed a little on those as well-it really helps because cooking odors get absorbed in fabrics as well!!!!! Hope it helps!!!!!

Not that I like the smell of vinegar, but I would choose to boil/clean my whistling kettle & coffee pot over the Febreze or lighting candles. There are supposed to be houseplants that clean the air, as well.

We had house visitors once, along with a Great Dane & Lab, and in order to get rid of the doggy smell I sprinkled baking soda everywhere and then vacuumed.

Also, I used to George Foreman grill my salmon, and then afterward burn candles. The candles were almost worse than the grilled fish smell. Ever after, I bake, and no odors! So happy!

Re: Tried and True way to remove fish odor from house???

Thanks again, ladies. Smiley Happy We are down to only a *Slight* odor when walking through the door. Did the lemon boiling, lit candles, opened every single window, Febrezed, brought a big fan downstairs and started trying to air things out that way.

I will remember next time I decide to cook fish indoors that I prefer it baked OR grilled OUTSIDE!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}
