I think the yellow color is ok, but the stool would be better if it was smaller, and there were a pair of them, maybe one at each end, or 2 on the side. The yellow adds a pop of color and complements the dark wood.
I dislike the chandelier and artwork. Can’t imagine putting a painting over a stove in any situation. Maybe a piece of metal artwork? Some greenery and color in window treatments would be nice too.

So... for all those who think the bar stool looks out of place and even suggested perhaps it was pulled in from another area, the article that accompanied the picture when it appeared in a magazine noted that the woman of the house specifically wanted that stool for the kitchen... It wasn't an afterthought nor is a make-do from another room. It seems it was actively chosen... Go figure...
Like others, I think the room could use a jolt of color and though I don't dislike it, the stool wouldn't have been it for me. I do like the art over the stove and might have worked with the colors in that to take things up a notch... You kind of have to assume, though, given all the pottery, the dishes and the pot on display are all off white that there must, again, have been an active choice not to introduce color... There are things I'd change, the light being one, but overall, I like the kitchen. Still, some color would add much needed warmth...

That can't be a kitchen someone cooks in on a daily basis. That artwork over the range would be covered in crud within a week or two.

Without the chair, the chandelier, and the artwork, with the addition of some color, I could love the kitchen.

That is one mighty narrow island. The way the room seems to be set up, the sink and frig must be back of that chair, in the general area, anyway. So the chair will totally be in the way. Also, I agree with Wilma7500, no way can a range hood deal with all grease, so that artwork will get ruined.

Hey Lady....I don't like your chair. But it's your kitchen, so as long as your happy...
I don't like the island, either. I guess the huge urns taking up precious countertop space is a way of having something match the dark cabinetry of the island. (I don't like contrasting cabinets--island vs. rest of kitchen).
But their isn't much prep space on either side of the stove, so you need that island cleared when cooking.
I guess the alcove around the stovetop is supposed to catch cooking emissions better. Most likely the picture isn't an original, I'd hit it with spray cleaner. Would dread the glassed in upper cupboards. You'd need one of those library ladders.
Geez, I really tore this kitchen apart!

@depglass The sink is in the top of the picture right-hand side as you face the window. No idea where the fridge might be.
@stevieb Overall I like the kitchen very much and while I wouldn't have chosen the yellow if I had to use/keep it I would put either a real bowl of lemons or some kind of ceramic accent in bright yellow on the island to "echo" the chair's yellow.
As always, thanks for posting this.

@aroc3435 Good suggestion. If the homeowner wanted the yellow stool, playing it up with a bit more yellow elsewhere would have helped to integrate it into the overall room's decor.

I like this kitchen. I have the feeling that if I saw it in person, that picture and yellow chair would be "just enough pop". Even more so, if it opens up into another room.

For the stool to look like it belongs there needs to be more yellow decor accents around.........
