What a beautiful sight!

Finally starting to see empty shelves in the spare catch-all room.

-Found a few partial boxes of very expired kcups on two of the shelves. Most expired 2020 and one early 2021. Various teas, apple cider, and some decaf coffee cups. Obviously, the consumers of said kcups were no longer visiting. Easy decision to toss the cups and recycle the boxes.

-The three bags of books off to the Friends of the Library book sale, will be joined by another bag of books. Decided to part with my local flora, fauna, and history books. The Library Mavens told me they normally sell well. Excellent! Loaded up and ready to head them out!

So very satisfying to see empty space and no desire to refill it.

Have a great week all!

I started last week tossing years of a periodical (magazine, in librarian speak) that had been stored in some wood Ikea magazine storage boxes on the top shelf of a small closet. I needed that space for my Periea storage boxes. The full magazine boxes are heavy and high up so I need to be careful climbing even on the step stool. I'm over half through, just put 36 issues out in the recycling bin this morning. Away they went! Yes, a satisfying feeling! Next 2 Tuesday's for the rest.

@nwbabs  Wish I could leave the space empty but alas I must repurpose it, which is why I'm purging in the first place. That, and the fact I hadn't looked at a single issue in over 15 years.

@nwbabs     The weather has been so nice here and will be the rest of the week.  So, I now have no excuse to start on my spare room that's basically turned into a closet thanks to QVC lol.

I purchased a lot of the Pereia boxes so organizing would be easier.  I tend to get overwhelmed easily, so I'm gonna have to decide which items to start with.

Woot! Woot! @laluzdelmundo Great job getting those periodicals tossed out! Being a frequent flyer 'In The Stacks' kinda girl, I appreciate the word periodicals.

The cleared shelves were an IKEA unit and the room has a total of 5 IKEA shelving units. Late hubby collected all kinds of things and had them displayed at one time. The IKEA shelving units will eventually be repurposed, thankfully not under my purview.

Be real careful getting those heavy things down and keep up the great work!

Just realized I put my original post in the wrong place. Should have put in Declutter 2024. I'm losing it. Smiley LOL

Brought two bags of items to Salvation Army yesterday and banker box full of books to a store that buys back books. We are now starting to fill up bags and boxes again. Nice to know that someone else will get some use out of these items.

@nwbabs  I actually will be doing this ame thing I very soon. It's on the radar. We are also looking to sell our Red Wing crock collection along with some other smaller collectibles. After having my dads house cleaned out yesterday with over 50 years of  saving stuff that didn't need to be saved this is now top of our minds to scale back and declutter our lives.

Edited on Wednesday-- welp today was the day. My husband brought 2 huge bags he could barely lift to the donation box. Ah...feels good.

I wondered why you weren't in the declutter thread and am glad nothing happened to make you leave.

I hope some of the people joining in here will continue their decluttering journeys on the other thread.  It's interesting and sometimes inspiring to read about how others are going about their decluttering.

I've been decluttering my closet and donating. Unfortunately, it may take a while as it's a rather large closet...sigh. It does feel like a wonderful sense of achievement, doesn't it? Congratulations!
