Re: Top Home Trends for 2017

Thanks, @house_cat, for the interesting thread.

I like farmhouse style, so maybe in my next life; doesn't fit this house. I don't like the acrylic look or the marble look on the wall.

The floor in the bathroom is very nice.  I use cobalt blue accents on my main floor, but I still have a very eclectic look with some more colors thrown in just to relieve boredom.

We don't have nightstands in our bedroom. My husband bought this huge wall unit/headboard set in Alabama. It has closets and drawers on each side with pullout tabletops, then a headboard and a overhead light bridge. We needed it to solve the tiny closet problem in military housing.

In viewing the slide show, the only thing that piqued my interest was the heated floors.  But we really don't need them.  I live in Minneapolis, it is February, and I haven't had the heat on for weeks.

Wow! That's amazing. I live in Southern California and my husband has had the heat on for two months already. It's like a dehydrator.. I'm going to look like a prune person by April.

@Bri21...I have wall paper in my dining room, spare bedroom and a bathroom.  I love it!  It never fails when someone new comes to the house they comment on the dining room paper.  The paper in the spare room is a light green swirl pattern with sand in certain areas, it is gorgeous...bugger to hang but beautiful.  To me wall paper never went out of style!

LOL.  "nightstands".    Did those go out of style when I was using mine?  Did  other people use the floor, or maybe a chair, instead of a nightstand?  Did they drag in their coffee tables?

On the lastest tour of homes sponsored by home builders in our area, the farmhouse theme was definitely promoted as an up and coming design.

The only thing I dislike is the (depressing dark) blue.

I love blue and have blue in every house I own.

I call it *Doris Day Blue*.  It's a happy -go -lucky light blue that goes well with white mouldings.

Nothing hygge about acrylic!  Don't have any, but do love the clean lines.  I think acrylic and glass top tables (dining and cocktail) are great for small spaces.

The only thing that stood out in the nightstand picture--was the awful electrical wire running down the wall.  Like nails on a chalkboard!

@house_cat  I think we have only had to have our heat on for two or three weeks all winter.  I feel so much better when I get up in the morning.

Re: Top Home Trends for 2017

When I was buying my bedroom furniture a few years ago, I had the worst time trying to find a set with 2 night stands that would fit in my townhouse.

Everyone kept trying to tell me I only needed one nightstand.  How can you have only one?  Doesn't that look lopsided????
