I don't see a reason for the old ladder.  If it's for 'looks' it failed!

Conservatory wannabe or conservatory in-progress.

 

This is some photographer's or stylist's idea of what plants indoors ought to look like.  No knowledgeable gardener would put pots directly on a rug.  Or, it's a photo of something that isn't yet complete.  Maybe step 2 out of 3 or something like that.

 

I'm going to ignore the ladder because that and the green dolly/trolley whatever with wheels seem to have been left there as part of the progression taking place.
