Those Of You Living Back East

On our trip back east my husband and I noticed some charming garden gates that were made to look like the American Flag. Some even had eagles. I was so impressed that when I came home, I made a Betsy Ross flag our of redwood for my gate which leads to my backyard. I painted the flag using acrylic paint and it turned out to be a large, bright, red, white, and blue! It's been there for more than several years and seasons and it's as nice as when it went up.

Anyone here have one or know of one and...........what is the general idea behind an Americana garden gate? I like to believe that it protects my yard and it's critters.
