Re: Thinking About Not Putting Up A Christmas Tree in 2021

[ Edited ]

I get so much enjoyment out of a Christmas tree.  I don't take it down till after New Years. We downsized to a 4 ft. tree.  I can set in a room, and gaze at that tree for the longest time and go deep in thought....not to mention all the memories that go with it.  My mom and grandkids made things for it so it holds a lot of memories so I will always put something out. That is.....as long as I have a leg to stand on! I was thinking about a time when I might not be able to do it anymore and those people who can't do it now. Some of these more simple ideas I think an aging or ill person could do.  I know I will as  long as I am able. DH wants it down day after Christmas but puts up with it for me till after New Years!

Re: Thinking About Not Putting Up A Christmas Tree in 2021

In my world, Christmas isn't Christmas without a tree. It doesn't need to be big, drowning in decorations and garland. I look forward to sitting and staring at the tree in the dark, sipping an eggnog, Christmas music playing and thinking about years gone by and my dreams of the future. It's truly the most wonderful time of the year.

I love putting up my trees each year and can't imagine not doing it.

However, some of those ideas are truly adorable.  If I ever got to the point where I was done with putting up a tree, I would certainly consider some of those ideas.  Some are beautiful and quite unique.

Re: Thinking About Not Putting Up A Christmas Tree in 2021

I enjoy having my trees.  I put up a 7 1/2' in my living room, a 5'  Valerie flocked in my dining room, a 5' in my bedroom and my husband puts up a 5' tree in his room that is decorated with mostly Bengals ornaments,  I will never stop. As I have said many times, if you stand still long enough I will decorate you.  I have too many Christopher Radko ornaments to put up, I love them.  And this year I am putting the Harry Potter train under my tree.  I live for Christmas.  It's the most wonderful time of the year.  Literally.  God bless you all and have a wonderful Christmas.

Cute ideas!  However, I will stick with putting up my tree!  It's a lot of work but the enjoyment that DH and I get from it after it is all done, is priceless!

I quit putting up Christmas decorations when my last child moved out. Christmas is my least favorite holiday and I have no desire to decorate for it.

Some of these ideas are really cute, but if you're going to go through the trouble of creating these, might just as well put up a small Christmas tree.  For me, it's not Christmas without a tree; be it small are large.

So clever and adorable--- love the ladders and the ornaments on them---finally threw out my tree after 20 some years and  stored ALL my holiday stuff as I moved to an apartment . I have a good sized mantle that I will decorate this year---may have to buy some cheap stuff tho-- but thats ok----

Re: Thinking About Not Putting Up A Christmas Tree in 2021

Love the joy that Christmas brings. Will put up my 6 1/2' tree in the living room and my little 3' tree in the den. I watch TV and relax with the trees lit in the evening and it brings me so much pleasure. I have my Christmas candles burning, music playing, a mug of hot chocolate and snacks at my side. I will be sad when I can longer do it, then I will probably have to settle for just decorating the mantel. But, I will always have the memories.
