We have remote doorbells in our homes here. In other words they are not wired but there is a box that picks up a radio signal from the button and rings. Today the bell kept ringing but there was no one there. What the heck?!?! Finally, I figured it out. Our next door neighbor's son was wiring her bell to a light because she is deaf and he put in the same code on her's as ours so every time he tested hers it also rang ours. The neat thing about these remote doorbells is you can program them to play various songs - at Christmas our played jingle bells and now DH has it playing peter cottontail.
