The continually shrinking quilts!

I have been a quilt lover my whole life. I have several beautiful and priceless (to me) handmade by my grandma and aunt. I have very old antique quilts, and I have newer machine quilts. I'm not a quilt snob, love all kinds and use the newer ones on beds, tables, as picnic blankets etc. (the old and special ones mostly just display)

What I have noticed is that the size of quilts is shrinking. First, I have to say that whoever invented the Full/Queen size of quilt was not a quilt user. They mostly work good on a full bed, and are terribly lacking on a queen.

And even the size of those, which used to be at least 92x92 or some even 94x92, have gone down to 90x90 and I even saw one that was listed as 86x86!

These won't even begin to properly cover a newer deep queen mattress, and I still have one old fashioned "skinny" queen mattress that these don't cover properly. I'd pay much more to get a quilt that was sized properly to fit a queen bed. I love the look of a bed with a good quilt and shams and dust ruffel more than any other bed covering option, but can't find quilts that are sized to fit. And buying a king doesn't usually work either, as it is sometimes too long and the pattern gets off centered if you try to make it fit.

Anyone else frustrated with this or have you found a solution (except for custom making your own, as I have no skills!!)
