In the dining room, the legs appear to be attached straight into the top.  It would be difficult to do and look nice.  The table also needs an "apron", or horizontal piece that hangs down about 4 inches and goes around the underside of the table. 

When you cross your legs under a table, you probably feel it but didn't know it has a name.

This is a very pleasant space, to me. Again, I'd not want a whole house of Adirondack style furniture, but it's a good fit for this home. The dining room is simple but pleasing with beautiful floors and nice light. Despite their rustic look, I also like the fact that the chairs have upholstered seats and backs to add comfort.
