Irrespective of the decor which is simply not my style, I love the staircase. If I could however make one slight change, the 3 decorative balusters might be replaced to match the others.

The element of "Line" really stands out here between the railing and the carpet.  Very well balanced.

 

The use of this much line won't appeal to everyone.

It is a beautiful staircase. Maybe the owner is a photographer

I would have to remove the bust and large gold framed picture.

I like the photos going up the stairs and the old/more modern mix.

Remove that large, gold framed portrait and it might grow on me. 

 

I see the theme of musicians' photos on the stairway wall. One looks like Mick Jagger. Odd. Seems out of place, time and character for the room.

Well, I'd like a grander one and get rid of the clutter!  I would love to have a really curved one!  Woman Very Happy

With the exception of the location of the gold framed artwork and the light, prefer a chandelier, it is a very appealing look for me!
