Looking for a new bed and would like opinions yea or nay on the two beds. We are looking at the cloud line (keeps you cool) in Temperpedic and the I8 in Sleep Number. Also if anyone as bought a bed from Tuff and Needle or Casper (those arrive in a box and come back to life after you take off the wrapping) I would never buy one off tv or QVC for many reasons.  TIA.

Re: Temperpedic vs Sleep Number

We recently replaced our old Tempur-pedic (too hard)  with the Elite Flex.  We tried out many of their models at a store.  We love our new one.  We never had a problem with it being too hot.  I know their memory foam is so much different from any others.  We have another brand in our spare bedroom that we paid about $500.  You certainly can tell the difference!

Re: Temperpedic vs Sleep Number

We replaced our Serta bed with a Sleep Number bed years ago. I still love my Serta mattress but my husband hated it. The Sleep Number bed is great!  I love the fact that you can adjust the firmest/softness depending on your personal preference. I run warm all the time and have never been hot on this mattress. This one gets my vote.

I'm not sure of the name of our Tempurpedic bed but I

love it!  The most comfortable bed of my life!  Love it.

@Meowingkitty  My DH and I visited both showrooms about 4 years ago to try out their mattresses and decided against each.  We ended up going to a big retailer and buying a queen Stearns & Foster set, and it wasn't cheap.  We were dissatisfied  practically from the beginning and needed a topper to make it more comfortable

.
DH and I have been doing a little more traveling and overnights here and there the last couple of years.  We've been spoiled by king size beds at the hotels.  Earlier this year we decided to start shopping for a new mattress and move from a queen into a king. I refused to spend the kind of money we sunk into the queen set so I got busy shopping and comparing, assuming a budget of about $1,000 would be our ballpark amount. First, DH and I went to a sleep store and investigated the kind of mattress we wanted - we agreed on a hybrid (combination of coils and foam).  I diligently did my research on mattresses; checking out brand comparison websites, mattress thickness recommendations, base thicknesses, kinds of foam, pros, cons, you name it.  I never ever thought I'd order a mattress online, but that's exactly what ended up happening.  I ended up ordering a Classic Brands Gramercy 14" Cool Gel Memory Foam & Innerspring Mattress from Wayfair.  Believe it or not, it was under $500 for a king, shipped free, and it's awesome!  It arrived compressed and rolled in a box, just like the Casper and other similar styles/brands.  The mattress can go on a tradtional box spring or you can eliminate the box spring and use a platform type foundation instead.  We decided to get a metal platform.  The mattress was heavy so it did require two people to move it to its location.  The unwrapping of the mattress was easy and fun to watch.  It expanded almost immediately, but it's recommended to not sleep on it for 24-48 hrs. to allow for complete expansion and any off-gassing.  Honestly, there was no smell at all.  I did cheat and lay down on the mattress for a couple of seconds before the first 24 hrs. was up because I was so excited and couldn't wait any longer.  We did wait to actually sleep on it though.  We've been sleeping on the new mattress for just under a month and we're crazy about it.  We look forward to getting into bed at night and want to linger in the morning.  It's supportive but has a good amount of padding and is very comfortable.  Neither DH or I can feel the other move at all whether rolling over or getting in or out of bed.  We already know that when we're ready to update other bedrooms in the house and get new mattresses that we'll buy the same mattress and foundation again.

Re: Temperpedic vs Sleep Number

I went to the Sleep Number store.  I wished I had the money there is nothing like it.   I wonder if hot flashes are increased with Temperpedic?

We have the Sleep Number and I miss it when we have to sleep away from home. So comfortable.
