I agree - Speed Queen for the win! Mine is about 2 years old now.

I am glad you all love your washers, but if you are very short and old like me, a front loader on a base can be a real blessing.  I don't often hear it mentioned but it is a lot easier to get those dirty things--especially when wet and heavy--in and out of the washer.

I thought I'd toss that in just in case someone hadn't thought of that.  I don't mean to rain on the parade here, but for some of us that makes a difference.

Hi @Sooner , I've seen others make this same comment and I don't understand.  I'm 5'2 and about to turn 77.  I have arthritis.  And I have no problem reaching to the bottom of my washer. I've seen washers and dryers on platforms which raise the height - are you maybe dealing with one of those? Otherwise I just don't understand.

What I do sometimes have a problem with is my dryer, which is a front loader.  When something is way to the back I use one of those long sticks with a pincher at the end, which I keep in the laundry room for that purpose.  To me front loaders require stooping down, which is getting harder by the year.

The last time I was looking for a washer, about 5 years ago, I considered top loaders--until I tried to reach the bottom of them. I had to practically stand on my head!

I am 5'5", but have very short arms and legs (I usually buy petite pants, and sometimes those are too long! I ended up with a front loader, though without the pedestal this time.

Exactly why I won't buy a top loader. I'm short and can't reach the bottom of them.

Totally agree that reaching from the top is much easier on arthritic joints and backs than reaching down to pull from the side.

Interesting to know how sturdy and efficient that Speed Queen washer is.  Did you buy a SQ dryer with it?

One last question:  why is this appliance review posted in the Recipes forum?

Thank you. Im looking trying to find it. I didn't realize I was on recipe thread. Sorry about that. Our whirlpool gas dryer is over 20 years old and working great so we only bought the washer. I find it very sturdy and and as far as efficient it uses alot of water compared to he top and front load washers do but so many people hate washers that use only a small amount of water.
