Need some advise and to VENT! During our hot summer last year, my house did some shifting and caused some cracks in both of my bedrooms. I have a referral for a good contractor that has been used in my neigborhood by several families. So I decided to not only get the cracks down, but bite the bullet and do a bathroom re-model. I will try and shorten this story (sorry) I worked out the plans with him and he came in with an estimate that I found to be a bit high but I could deal with it. He told me his estimates are a little on the high side for the little extras that come up, and this way they can be taken care of. I was responsible for buying all the news products. Fixtures, tile, flooring, paint, vanities, sinks and so forth. I have bought everything and 2 days into the re-model, he starts giving me receipts for things I will be responsible for. Some plumbing parts, buckets, trowels, drill bits, just lots of misc. receipts. I am shocked, wouldnt the contractor be responsible for his own tools and such? These are things that he will take on to his next job!!! Am I over reacting? This is adding up to several hundred dollars and I really do not feel that this is my responsibility to pay for his things. I bought everything I was responsible for on the estimate! What do I do? He is going to include all this on my bill!!! So upset and at a total loss. I budgeted very closely for his labor and my purchases..Is this common...HELP please..
