So here's my story of woe over an LG stove we purchased (big $$$) about 5/6 years ago. After a couple years of no problems, the oven started turning off by itself ... I'd set the temp and it would start to heat and shut off. Called CS at LG, and OF COURSE, warranty expired and item was discontinued. They provided a the name of a service person in our area that could repair. We called him, he came, said we needed some computer replacement which set us back about $400. After two weeks, it started again. I called him a dozen or more times, got a recording and left tons of messages and he never returned our call. So off and on I've had problems with this oven not heating up to the required temp. It takes forever to heat and when it does, it's not the temp I chose.

Kept complaining to my husband and he kept ignoring me (as usual) ... so the other day he went to make a pie in his best pie dish. The oven heated and he put the pie in, cooked it at whatever for 15 minutes and turned it down to another temp and set the timer. About 20 minutes later we heard a noise, he got up to go check and opened the oven and the house immediately filled with smoke, alarms going off ... the oven went into cleaning mode and the pie plate exploded. My husband was livid (he should have listened to me).

First off, I never wanted that oven as I felt it was way overpriced. I don't believe in all these fancy appliances with their computerized systems, but he had to have the "top of the line" with all the fancy things. So now we have to get a new oven and I wanted to get just a basic electric oven. We were supposed to go shopping together, but he went after work yesterday and made the decision to get a GE at Sears, it has a double-oven which I don't need. He said he had to move quick cuz it was the only one left and it was on sale for $700 (originally 1700).

Long story long, since it got awful reviews on-line, does anyone own a recent GE electric oven and have you had luck with it?

I am very upset with him making the move without asking, but I should be used to it by now ... that's how it's been for the 25 years we've been married. I may be cooking is goose in it!
