Since it's a log cabin, it's practical & well organized.
I really like the white beamed ceiling.
Edit: My bad - I never gave a thought to what most posters mentioned about the critters etc. Big Oops on my part!

Last year a friend brought a bunch inside his house..as the wood warmed a bunch of wasps flew out all over inside his house ....
We’ve cut and split 5 full cords so far this summer...it was a very hot summer here in the SW but it pays off during the winter...DW
@dancingwoman. Wow, 5 cords is a lot of wood. Do you participate in the cutting and spliting or is that DH's baliwick?

We burn 6-8 cord of wood per winter. We have a wood FURNACE and heat 3600 sq.feet of home.
That wood looks really nice but I would not want critters in my house.

It's not dreadful, but I think I'd prefer to store the buik of wood in a garage or something and bring in a few pieces at a time as needed or have only a small stash near the fireplace. It half way works in this setting because of the log walls. I'd think in most homes it would look out of place.

So who is gonna crawl back in the back side of that to drag out the last of it?
We long ago converted to gas logs. I was so happy! Still am! Happy and lazy.

@stevieb, it absolutely is dreadful! Sure, it makes an attractive decor, but it's a bad decision to store firewood inside a home or a garage. Believe me - mice love to find their way into a garage in the winter and find such a wonderful living area in a load of firewood! And those log walls inside the home? Perfect for those termites who will love the firewood! Not sure where you live, but it's probably not in the snow belt.

@jannabelle1 I only buy a small bundle at a time, as I have nowhere to store it, inside or out. When my mother buys a half cord it gets stored outside under a tarp and brought in an arm load at a time. It doesn't sit around the house. No, sadly, no snowbelt for us. Growing up, we used to have fires often but not so much anymore. I love a wood fire, but they do tend to be labor intensive and wood isn't cheap. Oh, and when I said it isn't dreadful, I was referring to the look, not the advisability...

Good use of space, but hope there are no mice, rats or spiders living in those logs. But, yeah, I do like it.

@Kachina624 DH cuts the wood I carry it to the truck and pile it in...or the trailer if we take that...I help unload...as far as splitting....AH ...that’s not for me...an axe isn’t one of my tools I play with...scares the heck out of me...I do stack it after he splits...DW

@dancingwoman. Sounds like a lot of grunt work. I don't do axes either.
Are the leaves changing up there yet? The San Juans can't be beat for beautiful fall color.
