Just this past June the area in my surrounding neighborhood got hit by a cloud of tiny black beetles...like pinhead size. They swarmed everything and I could see my neighbors' houses barely through my swarmed windows and their houses were covered from top to bottom with the bugs. I have never seen anything like it ever! The swarming lasted for a few hours then dissipated but lingering bugs were everywhere. The beetles were small enough to fit around the window screen frames so they were clinging to the inside of the glass. I was vacuuming live beetles from the inside of my house for days. It was so disgusting.

We don't get them here where I live...at least I have never seen them....googled stink bug and they kinda look like ticks!  What we get are these awful flying insects that like to sunbath on my garage door and side door.  Zillions of them.  It was so unseasonably warm here until today and they were out everywhere.  I sprayed them down and each day the load got lighter.  They have a red stripon back...hate them!  Wish I could figure out what they are called...when they 1st showed up 2yrs ago I found them online but can't find them againWoman Frustrated just did what it said online: spray them cause if you don't they will get in your house and nest there all yr!

EDIT: ok I just found them....box elder....says they are harmless but don't crush them as they give off a bad stink!  WHAT? is this another kind of stink bug??

I keep spraying my house on that side but not sure if that's good enough.  I have never found them inside my home...and I don't want to....ever.  I will be putting down more granuals and whatever else to be sure I kill them all around my home.  Says they want to come in homes for the winter as temps drop.

I'm in NC and we have them.   They've already started here.  A few years ago, they were all over the back of the house on the chimney, windows, etc...  They have not been that bad since then...  We'll see how they are this year...   I have read that if you will kill a few of them outside, they will release a different smell that will warn other stinkbugs to stay away.  I don't know if it would hold true or not...

I had a log home in eastern TN. I only got them when it was hot in summer. I took a bowl of water with dish detergent in it and flicked them off of screens trying to get in. It would kill them and then I put down disposal. I did this several times a day during their time. Those and the beetles that look like lady bugs were obnoxious. Now where I live I have tent worms from neighbors trees  and love bugs back to back for one month then gone.

I'm not sure if we have  box elder or stink bugs, but whatever they are I hate them!   Always hanging out on the siding of the house near the back door.

The only good thing about them is that when they do get in the house they seem to be very slow moving and I can get to them to kill them.

The past couple summers we fought these bugs continually, but this year (knock on wood) it hasn't been so bad.

They can get in so easily; then they hide and appear throughout the winter. NO FUN.
