I'm looking for a good steam mop that isn't going to stop working after a year.. I saw some in here advertisted, but the reviews arent that great. I'd rather get one from my local stores around me, so i dont have the hassle of packing it up and sending it back.. I did google top rated mops. but i just wanted others opinions. I have a small apt. so i would only be doing my small kitchen and small bathroom. I usually just use a mop and bucket its so small. or do it by hand. Buit i want to try a steam mop. Suggestions? and how well do they work?

I love steam mops. I have always bought shark...usually the cheapest model I can find...and they last years. The secret? Use distilled water.

Shark is great, had mine for eight years (lots & lots of tile floors) & its still going strong.

If you belong to a Sams or Costco, their products are excellent quality.

In a previous house I used a Bissell on our laminate floors. Was still going strong after 3 years. It was great.
In our current condo we have bamboo floors and I hesitate to use steam on it. Sure miss that Bissell steam mop!

I have a Bissel power jet steamer. I use it on our ceramic tile. It's several years old and going strong!

I bought a steam machine from QVC. I think I used it only once or twice. My floors looked really dull after using it. It was a waste of money for me.
I also bought a handheld steam thing. That I used a few times, then did not use it for awhile. When I went back to try it again, it did not work. I have not thrown it out yet, but I should do that. Another bust for me from QVC.

I have two HAAN's which I love, but I think they have gone belly-up which doesn't surprise me. Their website rarely ever had any stock even before the pandemic. I really needed a new hose so I could use it as a hand-held unit and the little plastic bumps had broken off. Never could get one. But, after looking at reviews for other handheld units, that seems to be a problem area where the hose meets the unit, probably because they all use cheap plastic. It's a burn hazard if the hose won't stay connected.

Curious question...If you use a mop to clean your floors, how do you clean the baseboards?
I still get on my hands and knees to do my floors and I do the baseboards at the same time.

I have a Light 'N' Easy steam mop. It's exactly what the name says. No frills, just plug it in and go. The tank is small so the mop is super lightweight and it puts out a good amount of steam. Replacement pads are easy to find and don't cost a lot. I've had my mop since 2019 and it works great. I use it on my small kitchen and bathroom floors.
ETA-
I have found that if you dampen your mop pad with a bit with water before you start mopping (a vinegar/water mixture works well also) that it will make cleaning the floors much more efficient. Don't put vinegar inside the mop tank b/c that can harm the seals in there.
