We started our landscaping this weekend. The excavator is supoosed to be here friday or monday to finish moving dirt and get it prepared for grass. We are hoping to have grass by the middle of sept. We had a nursery draw us a landscapong plan.

Beautiful, but I'll stick to a natural landscape, no muss no fuss, no big landscaping bill. Enjoy your beautiful environment.

Honestly this would be the hardest part of a new build for me.
I don't want a lot of upkeep in beds and landscaping, but love the look of it being well done (and no money to pay someone else to do it all! LOL).
We removed 40 trees, and had the stumps ground this summer. The clean up was unbelievable, and with the super hot weather, the grass we planted is coming in slowly. I want it like yesterday! LOL I have no patience for the time it takes to get the landscaping done and done right! LOL

@Mominohio 40 trees?! Holy Moly. I'm removing 23 and thought THAT was a lot of trees. Knowing what it's costing for those 23, I can IMAGINE the cost for yours! Wow.

It was an ordeal I don't care to repeat, but I'm afraid we are far from done!
These were old dead pines for the most part, and we took quotes in 2015 about getting it done, and they wanted $10,000 just to lay them down. We were going to have to limb them, burn the limbs, cut the trunks up and get them to the saw mill ourselves, grind the stumps and clean it all up. It was more money than we had or wanted to spend to get this done.
So one or two or three at a time, we took them down ourselves over the course of three years. It was enough to drive me mad. I want things done, and done now and done right! LOL It was slow and painful to say the least as it was just me, my husband and my son.
We were down to the last 8 that were too close to the house and some too close to power lines to be safe for us to continue.
Even those last 8 taken down, all 40 stumps ground and the grindings cleaned up with top soil brought in cost close to $5000.
And the worst part is we now have at least 6 more trees that will need taken down in the next couple of years, and another big stand of pines that I'm hoping will last another 10 years before they are bad enough to have to be dealt with.
We were kind of stupid when we bought this property. Things like this just weren't on our radar. Live and learn!

It would be here too, if in town where there were more power lines and other buildings. The bulk of these were in a big line along the road, no power lines most of the way, and not really near any buildings. I can imagine if they were placed somewhere different, how much it would have been.

Yes my mom keeps saying she didnt realize all the work with a new build outside after you move in. My parents dont hire people if they can do it themselves. They will be hiring someone for the grass since there is over two acres.
They still have a lot to buy for the front. Hopefully it will be done before the grass. We will wait to mulch probably in the spring.

@Mominohio I hear ya. I look at a home that has beautiful landscaping and all is see is $$$$$ and lots of time.
Costing us $15,000 for these trees to come down, grind the stumps and haul it all away. Will take almost a month. *sigh*
It is what it is.

WOW! Guess I should kiss my tree guy...he is kinda cute. I hired him for the first time 2 years ago to take down a dead Bradford Pear in our yard and he only charged us $300.00. A friend of my DH chained sawed it up and he & I stacked it and cleaned up the mess. It was hard work, for sure.
This year I had the tree man come back to drop several dead trees along the edge of our lawn where it meets the woods. He only charged me $250.00 a tree because there were several and he had a crew of 2 other men with him.
