With the advent of the flameless candle, then the flame look flameless candles, many of us have all but abandoned the regular candle.
Some of us still use the votive or jar candles for fragrance in our homes, and we may have some pretty real pillars for looks, but the lowly taper or dinner candle had all but disappeared from my home.
I noticed that I still have about a dozen Baldwin brass candlesticks, that I have always loved, but that had been mostly put away in drawers and 'forgotten'. The couple of ones (and wall sconces) that still were displayed in my home had candles in them that must have come from the dime store decades ago. They were still in fine shape, but rather boring, and faded over time.
I had noticed in finer gift shops, for quite some time, a candle by Root, in the style Timberline. I really wanted to pick some up, and try them for decor only (not to burn), but everywhere I went, they didn't have enough of the color and style/sizes I wanted.
After discovering that they are made near here in Ohio, I took a field trip to their factory and flagship store yesterday, and boy what a selection of beautiful pillars and tapers.
Such an array of colors, and this Timberline style is rather mottled (similar to the Mirage candles we've seen here at Q), and add such dimension to the lowly taper dinner candle. They come in various thicknesses or fatness (how's that for some technical descriptions!!), and I have transformed my already beautiful brass candlesticks into a real designer looking addition to my decor.
They have other styles that are more elegant, as well as the simple smooth taper. What is great is that they have so many sizes, thicknesses, and pillars in lots of sizes, all to match and coordinate with the dinner/tapers. You can build a really designer look with all the sizes and styles.
I mixed heights and thickness of candles in the same color in groups of three and am really pleased with the 'new' look I've created.
Just thought for some of you that still have some old but loved candlesticks that are looking tired or boring (or have been put away too long) there is a newer (to me, anyway) look to be built with these great candles, made right here in the USA.
They have a website, and we were told that starting on March ll, they are having a 25% off sale. Of course, after I drop $100 on candles. I may go back for some pillars during the sale.
They aren't exactly cheap, but they have caught my attention for a while now, and thought I'd give them a whirl. Glad I did.
