Re: Someone Loves Their Coffee Tables???

[ Edited ]

I think this is a pretty room, though I'd never have a TV over the fireplace. I think the coffee tables are pretty but if the one to the right of the picture were closer to the loveseat it would make more sense to have two...

Shout out to @jubilant  Did you earlier post a thread about focal points that disappeared?  If so, was a reason given? I'm curious because I saw it briefly, (or thought I did), but never had a chance to look at it carefully. I believe I found it on-line and since I didn't note any links or privately owned material and since I don't see any moderator reference to it having been taken down, was just curious what happened...

@jubilant

It's a nicely arranged room.  I like the large space & high ceilings.  Rather than have 2 coffee tables I would replace with 1 larger one.  It's a tad on the formal side for me but a nice place to visit.

     @stevieb   Yes, I did.  Lately I have had a couple of my posts deleted by the mods (due to links).  I'm not sure why.  Up until now I don't believe that has happened to me before. I usually check them for any names showing but must  be missing something.  Maybe it's my cataracts! Anyway, when I went back to check to be sure I didn't make the same mistake again,  one of the pictures had a name on it.  I tried to delete just  that one picture but it wouldn't work so I finally gave up and deleted the whole thing. I must have spent 10-15 minutes on that thing. LOL!  I'm not the brightest bulb on the block when it comes to computers.

@jubilant  Thanks for the explanation. I actually think the post could have stood since the photo that had 'House Beautiful' didn't indicate it couldn't be reproduced, but I did find the article, as I wanted to see the pictures in more detail and I did like that one quite a bit... As for links, sometimes they're embedded in the pictures so that if you click on the picture it'll take you to a website, though I didn't find any embedded links in the pictures associated with that article...

@stevieb  Yes, it was the one that said "house beautiful".  Thanks for giving me a reason why it may have happened.   It just surprises me that, as much as I post here, I didn't make that mistake before because I didn't have a clue!

I keep noticing something different every time I look at this.  I've never seen pictures hanging above windows that would be behind the drapes when they are closed.

I think artwork hanging in the windows is lovely.  It is a way of expressing one's originality and displaying artwork in an unsual and unexpected way.  I don't think it is that unusual in upscale homes.

Yes, and rooms like this are not used to lounge around in one's pajamas and watch TV.  They are used for entertaining.  I expect the owner of this home as an equally large (or larger) family room which is decorated equally beautifully but is not overly appointed.  I just think I would love to visit here and have tea and cookies.

I could see the need for a TV in that location, or at least a monitor-screen, if perhaps this person is a member of a club and they do something like powerpoint presentations or if this home belongs to a political candidate who wants to show videos of meetings, etc.

Too much furniture and none of it is anything I care for...including those coffee tables.

Love the serene colors of the room -- but that black hole of a TV (prominently above the fireplace, no less) kills the whole effect.

@vsm Rooms are for living.  Of course you need a tv and I don't object to seeing one.  It is a fact of life and especially with sports and social media, necessary. For most.

I think it is one of those big changes in life that we are all trying to get used to.
