It's a hodge podge mess to me.  I'd get rid of everything and start over.

I don't love it but I think it's an attractive room. For me, the table lamps, rug and coffee table base are non-starters and I don't much like the throw pillows, but could live with them except the grey one in the chair. I sort of like the tie-dye love seat and am fine with the bookshelf, given the overall room. I'm also not at all liking the dining area wallpaper I'm seeing reflected in the mirror, which looks like fish. All that said, the elements of the room do work together.

I like the way the patterns in the room coordinate with each other. I like the pinky/rose colors and the way they used this color. I also think the lighting really fits the room as do the draperies.  To me the elephant in the room was the tall green plant squished into the corner but stands out like a sore thumb. I like that they chose a neutral sofa instead of white or cream. I would have chosen a different shelf. I even like the rug!

The tall green plant!! lol!  that is the elephant in the room.  I didn't really notice it as a thing on my own, but now that you mention it - there it is! (and shouldn't be).   can't believe it didn't really see it.  crazy.

It's a pretty room and window. I don't mind the bookcase at all..it's the rest of the furniture that I really don't like. It looks very dated to me. I would remove the furniture and decor..keep the bookcase and drapes and refurnish.

@DREAMON

Agree. If the bookcase is the “elephant”, then I like the “elephant” more than anything else in the room. I also like the plants - always like real greenery in a room. The rest is a do over for me.

@GenXmuse , well said! I agree that it's not anything I would personally choose. It's been my experience that decorating in neutrals can be a challenge with the textures that need to be used to add some depth and dimension. I think that was done well!

This elegant room is tad "sterile" for my taste, but I like it nonetheless.😁

@jubilant

I like the neutral idea but I'd replace the 2 patterned chairs & the coffee table.

Love the coral lamps, so pretty.

     Ladies, you may have missed the post where I  say " the elephant in the room was the big green tall plant in the corner"

To me, this is a typical modern hot mess. I like virtually nothing.

The curtains are hung on the ceiling. What is the purpose? I know it is supposed to make the space look bigger or something, just looks stupid. The hole in the wall/door way to another room behind the sofa? Is that what it is? Dumb placement of furniture if it is.

The 'pop' of pink looks out of place. Most pops of color just do to me. The fact that none of the upholstered pieces match or even coordinate makes it look like a thrift store furnished first apartment. And the modern floor lamp and coffee table I just hate for the style. And shoving a green plant in a room to me is so 1970's, I just don't like house plants/trees in rooms.

All this is just my personal rant and dislikes. I'm sure by design standards this room is considered beautiful. I have no real sense of design, I only know what I like and don't! LOL
