I try to remember to run water through all tubs, sinks and toilets at least once every month - usually do it around the 1st of each month.  I also have to remind myself that I must run water through the infloor drain in our laundry room.  Forgot it once, and the smell came up quickly.

As a snowbird, the best insurance we have for FL is someone who come in weekly and runs the water for all drains, checks the humidistat and AC settings, and walks through each room checking for any problems that may be starting.

Thanks for the original post because I totally have forgotten about the spa tub that was used once since 2001 when it was put in.  ( It now serves as a shirt hamper for DH ) !!!!!!!!

Don't forget to use those plug-in rodent repellents such as the Bell and H*well brand, if you want to keep scorpions and tarantulas from entering your house or to shoo them back outside.  They are in the spider family, I believe.  All I know is that after being plugged in, I haven't seen a spider in ages.   Also (and this could be a coincidence, but it is probably possible):  They seem to neutralize  slightly 'musty' odors in unused rooms.  Just my experience/observations.

Every week or two, I place a scoop of baking soda down every sink and tub in the house.   Just because.   No smelly stuff ever happens here.    Woman LOL
