We've been seriously thinking of getting a sleep number bed but don't know if we should buy it locally or from QVC. They have many styles to choose from and more than one adjustable base for your bed, there isn't much information on the Q as to what model they are presenting or what level of base they are including. Would it be better to buy from a local store or can you find out the quality of bed and base you are purchasing from the Q? How can we comparison shop if we can't get any information?

Every time they were on I'd come on here and moan and groan and all of you were so kind to me to give me your ideas (pros and cons).
Last week I finally bought the regular mattress the Q was selling. I'm holding my breath because within 2 days a recording called and said I'd hear something within 7 days.
I still haven't heard anything about setting up an appt to deliver the mattress set.
I'm thinking the Holiday maybe messed things up. I might call to find out what's going on tomorrow.
I wish you luck. I think everyone should get the bed that helps them sleep best.

Craftie - have you tried a Sleep Number bed at all? If not, I would strongly suggest you go to a local sleep number bed and try the different models. That will give you a starting point.
I had one of the first Sleep Number beds and loved it. Last year, after finding the bottom of the mattress cover shredding and the foam sides were shot I figured it was time to go bed hunting. As I'm now alone, I figured no sense spending the money for a sleep number as I can just pick the mattress set that suits me best. Well, I can tell you that I really regret going back to a regular mattress and plan on getting a Sleep Number next year.

We bought ours locally, no way we'd spend that much money on something we'd never tried. We were transitioning from my DH's waterbed he'd had since the 80s, and were really curious about the Sleep Number after watching the tv presentations.
Honestly, I love this bed. I put 2 feather beds on top (bought a new one and didn't want to toss the older one). I'm a light sleeper but I don't wake up as much as I did on a regular mattress. I strongly suggest anyone considering this spendy purchase, go to a local store and try them out.

I can't imagine buying a mattress without trying them first. Plus the delivery. No matter the savings. Go to the store. Not worth it

I actually bought my first Sleep Number bed from the Q. Back then, no Sleep Number stores around here. Now though, there are so many different styles and models. Some have memory foam some fiber and there's a big difference between them. I don't know why, but I cannot handle memory foam! When I was mattress shopping, every time I laid down on a memory foam bed (and I think I tried them ALL), I actually got nauseous!
I tested the fiber topped and the memory foam topped Sleep Number beds, and the fiber topped was my choice, but it was just so expensive. Now I realize I should have bit the bullet and bought it. The mattress I'll replace next year will go in my guest room, so not a total loss.

Thanks so much for all your information and help, we decided to take your advise and go to the sleep number store at the mall and see all the beds so we can decide what we want because there is a lot to choose from not only in beds but bases. I also found out they will come out and set it up and take away the old mattress. The store offer longer periods to space out your payments so it probably would be a better way for us to go seeing as how I am seeing this as a investment but if it does all they say we really need one. Wish they weren't so pricey!!

No, we have not tried a Sleep Number bed, I am taking all your advise and going to the store at the mall to get started. We have a regular bed and its not very old only a couple of years but it is just not working anymore so we need to make a change.

We have had our Sleep Number bed for over 20 years......and we love it. Now......we are going to be putting our home on the market......and after we move.......we are going to be buying the adjustable sleep number bed.....the split king. It's a pricey purchase....but, we are 20 years older.......and want and need the adjustable feature.
When we bought ours 20+ years.....we ordered it direct from the factory.....got a very good price........if my memory serves me right.
IMHO.....it is well worth every penny spent.
