Slatkins candles

[ Edited ]

We have to endure Slatkin parading his overpriced candles on Q2 tonight, citronella candles too .... I DESPISE the smell of citronella. Can't stand it. Smells medicinal to me, not a fragrance that I want to smell outside while relaxing.  I'm sure he will be self promoting his famous "nose" and affluent Hampton lifestyle while selling the candles and rambling about notes and powering up. It's a huge swing and a miss for me. I won't be buying. I get my candles much cheaper at the Big Box stores.

Hear you loud and clear, but I disagree. I think Harry brings us a better product than the big box stores.  The fact that he is affluent isn't a factor in my purchasing habits.

@Reever Every time Harry shows up, you write a post about how much you hate him.  FYI, the opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.  If you really hated him so much, you wouldn’t take so much time to go out of your way to constantly be talking about how much you hate him.  You’d just ignore him.  I think you may have a little crush on the nose.

I always love when Harry is on!  Yes, he is enthusiastic about his products (as he should be!) and enjoys talking about his Hamptons life, but that's all part of his charm.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but you are lucky in that you don't have to watch or purchase his products.  My personal opinion is that he does offer superior products.  There are definitely hits and a few misses, but he has a solid quality product for the most part.  That's why so many people enjoy watching him.

When he came back on during the fall and holiday seasons, some of his reviews were very negative and people complained that his products weren't the same as they used to be.  I find it very telling of him as a person that he literally went back to the drawing board on his candles/scents and put forth an improved product (this spring) based on customer reviews.  He didn't have the attitude that the customer was wrong and he was right.  He cares about his customer base, his reputation, and about selling quality products.  That is reason enough for me to purchase his brand.

When I first saw what the Q2 deal was I was going to pass but after watching it I want one.  I just can't decide which one.  It would be so different for my summer pool parties.

I happen to like and enjoy his candles, his lifestyle is certainly not a factor.

Re: Slatkins candles

I haven't been watching, but that's great that Harry is listening to our comments.

Concerning the Citronella scent, I thought most people knew that it's mainly used outdoors to keep bugs at bay. I own some Aura Cacia citronella essential oils, & it is pretty stinky. But I only use it for "pest" issues.

I like Harry's candles, & bought several sets when he returned. I haven't repurchased because, (1) the burn time was way too short, & (2) I didn't like buying duo scents. I'd rather have the option to only buy two of a scent I like. There was always 1 scent in the duo that I really didn't care for.

I'll only buy candles with a minimum of 60 hour + burn time. I light them regularly, so thats a must for me.
