Watching the QVC taped programming and noticed the candle designer Harry Slatkin gave a tour of his home . Does anyone know where he lives ? The home seemed opulent to me. One room had over 100 candles in it which seemed excessive. His kitchen opens to an herb garden. While I enjoyed his candles, I have found them to be overpriced. I can find candles much cheaper at Kohls or BIg Lots. He seems like a nice man though in his home,

I didn’t get to see the house tour you refer to, but Slatkin has a residence in Manhattan and East Hampton.  I’d guess the home you saw was East Hampton. There are also a few videos of his home to see on YouTube.

I guess if you’re in the candle busines having 100 lit candles in one room seems reasonable! Everything about him seems so pretentious and over the top, I’m not surprised there is an herb garden off the kitchen in case Cook needs a sprig of mint or something!Smiley Wink

I think the Slatkins are a little over the top, but that is what makes them interesting. They seem to be hard working people who have earned their money and provide jobs for others. I did see the video and their is lovely but not my style.

That's some expensive real estate he has. I like his candle line.

I have to say I really don't find his candles to be that different from other brands.  The way they carry on about the smell I thought they would be something special.  Though they seem to burn nicely I wouldn't spend the money on these again.  Glad I didn't fall into the wifes perfume trap!

Bought his candles for the first time this year, and love them.  Do not like the name of his wife's fragrances.

The house you see in the tour is in Manhattan.  Compared to the homes of some people I know who live in his neighborhood, his is very typical and not over the top at all.  Of course he has lots of candles, they're free, and that's what he does for a living.

I find him over the top. He rambles on about candles like they are a fine perfume. Frankly, he strikes me as a socialite. Could you imagine him getting along with someone like Mike Rowe ?

@Reever.  Well, he is trying to sell his candles. If you were him can you tell me what you would ramble on about ? Waiting for an answer.
