Re: Shower stall help please

We have glass and we must squeegie after every shower.  And if we don't do nice strokes...you can make a mess.  I feel it is much more work than a curtain to keep it spotless.

Not a problem for DH since he is over 6 ft but I am short!  It is hard for me to reach the top.  I often feel like I am going to slip stretching to squeegie way up there.  The bottom tiles can get slippery.

Having said that...I still would not want a curtain.  A newly updated bath would look best, IMHO, with today's designs of glass.

But I love the suggestion of putting a grab bar in.  Even though age and balance are not an issue for us, I would feel so much more secure if I had that bar to grab onto while I was reaching up to clean!  Anyways...I am getting older everyday so I would definitely like having it  for the future.  LOL

Thank you for the 'recipe' for your spray!

Hi everyone.  I use the Karcher power squigee.  I use it on Windows (my house is full of large windows, garden doors and patio doors.  I also use it in the shower.  A friend turned me on to this tool and it is amazing.  No more dreading the semi annual window cleaning job.  My Windows look amazing. Also works wonderfully in the shower.  I have two shower doors and they are always shiny clean.  LM

P.S. I am in Canada.  This sells here at Home Depot and Canadian Tire and Rona.

Re: Shower stall help please

I think you answered your own question. You say you are getting older & cleaning a shower door will be a problem so go with a curtain. You can change the curtain for a new look any time. From past experience yes the curtain will billow or blow in some. It seems to blow in more with the vent on while showering. I think you will have less of a problem if you use one of those curved shower rods.

Re: Shower stall help please

We removed all the shower curtain rods and installed shower doors. I have glass on two and fiberglass on the third. The glass is a breeze to clean. The fiberglass is alwys a challenge. The glass door lasts longer. I noticed that our fiberglass door frame is cracking in spots. My vote is glass door.

Re: Shower stall help please

I can not thank you all enough for your responses, I knew I would get good answers to my questions.  My main concerns were the cleaning and having to be on my knees which are shot! I am still not sure what to do but I am now more knowledgeable on the whole thing. I gave you all hearts for being so kind to me and responding.

Also, think about how much air your shower stall will get - if the doors are closed and it is not much you will have mildew a lot. I hate my shower doors and wish I had a shower curtain to leave open, etc. to ensure it dried better.

Re: Shower stall help please

We built a walk in shower, and left a smaller opening so there was no need for door or curtain.

Re: Shower stall help please

We have a trackless large shower door and enclosure in our master bath.  We squeegee it after every use and once a month clean it with scrubbing bubbles.  It looks excellent and it is 10 years old.  I would do it again - hope that helps!

Re: Shower stall help please

I just made an appointment with the glass door person and I am now armed with a ton of questions. I think I am going with the trackless glass door. I am also thinking about just one piece of glass and the back is open. Thank you all  for your input. 😀😀
