Why don't manufacturers put spandex fabric in their sheets???? 
If it works for clothing, it should work for sheets to reduce shrinkage and fit better. I have to buy the deepest bottom sheet sets even though my bottom matress has a lesser depth. I just bought a really nice high thread count sheet set from SAMS Club (w/stripes) and the bottom fitted sheet is gussetted which feels great and fits great. Haven't washed them yet.
